hi everyone, I was just thinking about some of the strange phrases that have stuck with me since childhood and was wondering if anyone else has memories of things that technically made no sense, or maybe things you say yourself hehe. One of my mothers classics was 'im not as daft as cabbage lookin' Which thinking about it now makes me go eh?? Seemed perfectly sensible back when I was a kid though

Yes, loads, but then I'm from the Black Country.
We call hands 'donnies', sweets 'suck', the canal by our house was the 'cut', jed was 'dead', yed was 'head' and if someone ever asked where you were going you'd often hear 'round the bak o' Bill's mother's' or 'gooin t see a man bout a dog', which meant 'mind your own business'.

My Mum used to say " Do you think I came up a log in a bubble?" which is much the same as "Do you think I was born yesterday?" how about "Dont do as I do, do as I say" my Grandpa used that one.

Ha ha, my mum used to say that she had a bone in her leg if we asked her to push us on the swings......basically because she didn't want to ( I think going so high that she went over the top bar when she was a child scarred her!!)

OMG, someone I know from Manchester used to say that...she couldn't explain it either!!! And she used to say 'sitting there like cheese at fourpence' which I think also on the same lines of 'been waiting for ages'!! They make me chuckle!!!
